CTPAT certified: a broker CBP has reviewed on security

CTPAT is the Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism, the supply chain security program of U.S. Customs and Border Protection. We are a certified partner. That means CBP has reviewed how we protect the shipments and the information we handle, against its minimum security criteria for customs brokers.

What CTPAT is

CTPAT is a voluntary program run by CBP. Companies that bring goods into the United States, importers, carriers and licensed customs brokers among them, join by showing CBP how they keep their part of the supply chain secure, and then keep meeting those standards every year.

To join as a broker, CBP asks for an active customs broker license and filer code, an office staffed in the United States, a company officer responsible for cargo security, and a security profile that shows how the firm meets the program's minimum security criteria for customs brokers.

What it means for you

Your entries are prepared by a firm CBP has reviewed on security: who can see your documents, how your information is protected, and how we check the people and companies we work with.

If your company is in CTPAT, or applying, you have to show that your business partners meet security standards too. A certified broker is one partner you can document without a separate review.

What it does not mean

The benefits CBP lists for members, such as fewer examinations and front of the line inspections, apply to each member's own shipments. Using a CTPAT broker does not by itself reduce exams on your cargo. For your imports to get those benefits, your company joins the program as an importer.

CTPAT is a partnership with CBP. It is not an endorsement of any company, and we do not describe it as one.

How to confirm it

CBP does not publish a public list of CTPAT partners. Ask us and we will confirm our status in writing. The program itself is described on CBP's own site, linked below.

FAQ

Is Julio Rodriguez US Customs Broker CTPAT certified?

Yes. We are a certified partner in CTPAT, CBP's Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism. Ask us and we will confirm our status in writing.

Will using a CTPAT broker mean fewer exams on my cargo?

Not by itself. The benefits CBP lists, like fewer examinations, apply to each member's own shipments. For your imports to get them, your company joins CTPAT as an importer.

Why does it matter that my broker is CTPAT certified?

Your broker sees your invoices, your suppliers and your entries. CTPAT means CBP has reviewed how we protect all of that. And if your own company is in CTPAT, we count as a business partner that already meets the program's standards.
